Residents of California’s San Francisco and South Bay region are now able to sign up and use Google Shopping Express.

Working to bring same day delivery of items from a selection of retail stores like Target, Walgreens, REI, and even Guitar Center, Google Shopping Express is Google’s attempt on making shopping seamless through the web and mobile apps. The current problem is that selection inside the limited number of stores doesn’t show all items carried by a retailer.

Other retailers are moving towards same-day delivery, but it’s still unknown if this delivery method is sustainable in the long run.

Google opened a beta in May to test the service and it decided that it’s ready for public use. With options like a range of delivery times, up to 9 PM, it will be interesting to see if Google’s attempt as a shopping/delivery service is viable.

For a limited time, signing up for a membership grants you six months of free, unlimited same-day delivery. Non-members can get same-day delivery with a $4.99 per store charge. There’s no mention of how much a membership will cost after the six months is completed.
